Thinking of trekking in Manaslu and Tsum?
The Manaslu and Tsum Valley treks have gained hugely in popularity in recent years, creating a mini tourist boom in both areas; the scope of this web page is to provide a small complement of information on the route, correct a few inaccuracies in the guidebook and present an update on the available facilities. It does not pretend to replace the existing guide which is infinitely more complete.
All observations were gathered whilst walking the Mansalu circuit and the Tsum Valley trek in November 2014.
After the devastating earthquake that occurred in April 2015, much of the infrastructure was destroyed in lower Manaslu, and the information contained in these pages is likely to have become at least partially obsolete.
For now, rules regarding the mandatory hiring of an accredited guide through an official trekking agency make the area a tad less accessible then other more popular Himalayan regions. An upper end trek in many ways; may it remain so.
Enjoy your trek!
